This pedestrian bridge was opened in the year 2000, linking Bankside with the city. Its design was chosen through a competition, won by the creative team of sculptor Anthony Caro, Foster + Partners and the engineering group Arup. The 13 feet wide platform rests on eight laterally extending steel girder-enforced cables, passed over two Y-shaped columns. The low construction allows for a truly panoramic view of the Thames and its skyline.
