It all started in the 1960s with a naked light bulb, dangling from a hotel room ceiling. It inspired Ingo Maurer’s first lamp, “Bulb,” which, like many others after it, is now part of the design collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Driven by a love of light, the designer has been combining visual beauty with technical sophistication for over 40 years, earning more awards and accolades than anybody can count. A visit to his showroom oasis in Schwabing is an absolute must, even for design philistines.
