This residence, designed by Eldridge Smerin, is in a fantastic location on Highgate Hill, by Highgate Cemetery. It was built on the foundations of a house by architect John Winter which was demolished to make way for this construction. The front was constructed using granite, steel and glass, managing to reflect the sheer size of the cemetery wall, while the rear is in glass, allowing light to flow in despite the concrete walls – this creates an impression of ample size. Even Winter would have had to admire such an exquisite piece of design.
