General Grant National Memorial, a mausoleum better known as Grant’s Tomb, is located in Riverside Park and houses the remains of the 18th president of the U.S.A., Ulysses S. Grant, and his wife Julia. The tomb was modelled after one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. Standing at a proud height of 165 feet, the structure made of granite and marble was financed through generous donations by the public in 1897.
