The art connoisseur and patron Hanna Bekker vom Rath already promoted artists which were pursued by the National Socialists and gave them secret platforms to present their works. In the first years after the founding of the art cabinet—more than 60 years ago—she acquired renown for exhibitions of classic modernists like Max Beckmann or Käthe Kollwitz, who were little known at that time. Today the gallery holds four to five exhibitions a year.
