Housed in the opulent halls of Dolce e Gabbana’s former Gold, the Sicilian chef – one of the most celebrated in Italy today – has banned garlic and onions in his eponymous restaurant. His skills in the kitchen come from his turbulent past: as a photographic journalist, he was wrongly imprisoned and had to learn how to cook for himself and his fellow inmates. Today, his caponatina, seafood salad, spaghetti alla Norma and his cassata bring eager diner en masse.
