The Evelyn Grace Academy, designed by Zaha Hadid and Patrik Schumacher, lies like a futuristic ocean liner stranded in Brixton. It was brought into being by Mace, together with the engineering team at Arup and architects Bamber and Reddan. The building, which stretches over 3.5 acres, has 1,200 student places. At the heart of the building is a concrete construction, making air conditioning obsolete in the summer, the surface is largely glass fronted.
