Your first trip to Milan must include a visit to the Milan Cathedral—including a visit to the roof. From there, you have a superlative view of the surrounding church towers, as well as the dome of the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. With a bit of luck, you will even see the Alps etched against the distant horizon. Decorated by around 3,400 statues and small spires, the roof of the cathedral also features a 13 ft. high golden Madonna statue.
