The elegant architecture to be seen here is the work of Caruso St John Architects. The building is encircled by its pillared arcade made from textured “Roach Bed” Portland Stone, with the café at its heart – a modern take on the Italian arcades of the 19th century. The combination of light and shadow contribute to a sculptural labyrinth effect – a transitional zone between inside and outside. During the summer this provides guests with shade, while during the colder months it affords protection from the elements.
