Nobody would expect to find this jewel of a café on the boisterous Karl-Marx-Straße with all those 1-euro shops. Each morning, opulent breakfasts are served beneath the ornamental ceilings and in the afternoon this gives way to coffee and cake. The evening crowd is made up of theatre and cinema goers fortifying themselves in the Rix. This complex, which is also the location of the Neuköllner Oper, was built in 1876 and was formerly a horse station before being gradually expanded to build halls for events.
