Harlem’s first beer garden looks nothing like a Bavarian beer hall, much more like a modernist European cafeteria. Bier International boasts various drafts, mainly from Germany and Belgium, as well as bottles from American and African breweries. This is Harlem, after all! The restaurant offers bar grub: burgers, bratwursts, but also more exotic specialties. The place is almost always packed. Come for brunch and weekends and you’ll see how much Harlem has changed, with young parents and their strollers blocking the sidewalk.
