It only took months after it opened in 2013 for Bestia—which is located in a former warehouse on the eastern edge of LA’s 30-year-old downtown, with its enormous Art Deco high rises—to be hyped as the city’s new hip restaurant by the press. The spice and salad gardens are located in the middle of the space and the kitchen is open-concept, allowing guests to witness their food being prepared. The menu is extremely simple and in keeping with the current trend for the holy trinity—salami, pasta, and pizza—of rustic Italian food. A reservation is highly recommended.
