For over a century, the Whitechapel Gallery in London’s East End has been showing the work of internationally renowned artists, from modern masters such as Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Frida Kahlo to more contemporary works by the likes of Sophie Calle, Lucian Freud or Gilbert & George. The extension, opened in 2009, with its innovative temporary exhibitions, well-stocked art book shop, café and gourmet restaurant, attracts art lovers from all across the globe.
