Franz von Stuck, painter, sculptor, and co-founder of the Munich Secession, commissioned this villa at the end of the 19th century based on his own designs. This “prince of painting” (the second to receive this moniker after Franz von Lenbach) and Italy lover used the neoclassical Jugendstil villa as a studio and residence. Today, art and craft objects created and collected by von Stuck are shown in their original context in the lovingly restored, opulently furnished rooms.
