In addition to the master plan for the extension of the trade fair site at the Gran Via, Toyo Ito, in cooperation with Barcelona firm b720 Fermín Vázquez Arquitectos, also designed two 374 ft. towers: a hotel and an office building. The shape of the hotel’s red aluminum skin is repeated by the red vertical core of the office building which breaks through its glass façade. With this emblematic ensemble, the Japanese architect takes the organic architecture developed by Gaudí into the 21st century.
