Hidden away on the mezzanine of the Roosevelt Hotel, the Spare Room is definitely not the kind of bar you stumble upon by chance. Those who find their way here know exactly what diversions await them. The place is a playroom for adults, with classic board games such as chess, backgammon, checkers, and dominos laid out in the cocktail lounge. But best of all are the two pleasantly old-fashioned bowling lanes. The fun doesn’t come cheap, though, and reservations are a must.
