Creaking boards, crooked stairs, and a touch of nostalgia create the charm of one of the oldest pubs in the city. Built in 1817, the landmark-protected building served dockworkers from the nearby piers starting in the mid-19th century. In the 1970s, Ear magazine (a monthly music magazine) occupied one floor of the establishment, known up to that time as the Green Door. The owners painted an E over the B in Bar, and since then, the edited neon sign glows with the new name.
