The Sir John Soane’s Museum, somewhat reminiscent of a curiosity cabinet, was home to the well-known neo-classical architect Sir John Soane (1753–1837). His wide-ranging collection of antiques, furniture, models and paintings have been left just as they were when he was alive. The museum boasts over 30,000 architectural drawings, as well as a valuable library. Candlelit exhibition openings, which take place on the first Tuesday of every month, are a definite highlight.
