The open approach of Raven Row, which offers exhibitions and project space for innovative, experimental and contemporary artists, finds its architectural equivalent in the building which houses it, originally built by Huguenot silk handlers in 1750 in the Rococo style, and remodelled by 6a Architects. This not-for-profit gallery, opened in 2009 in Spitalfields, has been nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award 2011.
