Local before arrival
In 2013, Rio was given a new art museum dedicated to the city’s complex history and culture. The two buildings—one historic, one modern—are joined by a wave-like roof, an allegory for the two different perspectives. The exhibits display both artwork of the past and the present, while the Escola do Olhar teaches educators the important of arts in education. The panoramic view of the ocean from the terrace is not to be missed.
