Completed in 2007, the new courthouse building in Sant Boi de Llobregat, designed by BAAS Architects, is both poetic and functional. Like sunflowers turning towards the sun, the vertical concrete sheets appear to align themselves along the façade. They surround the simple architectural structure like a veil and hint at open pages in law books. Arranged around three inner courtyards, the offices and courtrooms benefit from daylight while being protected from view.
