Local before arrival
The Gold Souk, also known as the City of Gold, is located just across the street from the Spice Souk. In order to keep both merchants and visitors up to date, the current gold rate is displayed on screens. More than 300 jewelry shops line the alleys on both sides. Those wishing to make a purchase should remember they are in the Middle East: Bargaining is a must. But even if you’re not looking to take home a golden souvenir, the market is a spectacular visual experience.
