Numerous residents of Milan have found their final resting place in the Cimitero Monumentale, a cemetery opened in the 19th century. The tombs here reflect the artistic styles and trends of their time—as well as the wealth of the Who’s Who of the Milan elite: After all, only those who enjoyed the proper financial and social status could be laid to rest here. Guided tours of the cemetery are offered on a regular basis.
