Animal lovers can enjoy a break from the urban jungle by immersing themselves into the exotic worlds of the Bronx Zoo. The world’s largest metropolitan zoo, the park is traversed by the Bronx River, and features around 6,000 animals representing about 650 different species. As part of an ongoing dedication to the conservation of threatened and endangered species, the zoo works together with various wildlife organizations. Most recently, in April 2013, a snow leopard was born here.
