Albert Wimmer’s redesign of the Wien Praterstern train station took a rundown structure cobbled together over the years and replaced it with a uniform building topped by a transparent roof to brighten the spacious interior and provide easier access to the platforms. The façade incorporates inset elements that both reflect sunlight or the lights of surrounding buildings at night, and lend an inviting air to the Boris Podrecca-designed courtyard. Wimmer has also been commissioned with the new construction of the Vienna central station.
