Local before arrival
Here, Munich is like Berlin in the best possible way. Lacking even the slightest hint of pretentiousness, this pub feels like a living room decorated with photo wallpaper. Some sprawl in the show window, while others stand around sipping beer. After 11 pm, however, you can only get in if you have your own key—which you have to have acquired in advance at the bar. Yet that, too, enhances the feeling that you’re at home here, especially when dozens of soccer fans cheer on their team during live games. That’s when you’ll notice that you are in Bavaria after all… not in Berlin.
