Local before arrival
The Hotel Tomo, suitably located at the outskirts of Japantown, pays homage to “anime,” the Japanese art form similar to Western cartoons. The artist Heisuke Kitazawa has covered entire walls with images from various anime. Every corner is filled with game consoles, LCD-screens, strange dolls, and other shrill knickknack representing the popular culture from the Far East. Staying in a Player-Suite, those who cannot get enough can play Nintendo Wii or Sony PS3 all night long.
