Local before arrival
The Hamburg-based firm BRT Architekten faced quite a challenge: how to integrate an office complex into an urban planning context that doesn’t exist. Architecturally speaking, it wouldn’t be farfetched to call the Swiss Re building in Unterföhring’s industrial district a “cathedral in the wilderness.” Nature appears to dominate the structure surrounded by a floating hedge. From each workspace, employees have views of gardens, green roofs, or interior courtyards.
