It’s no surprise that this is a popular setting for weddings: Expanded in the early 15th century under Duke Albert III, this castle looks as if more than a few fairy tales might have come true here. Surrounded by fields of flowers and two arms of the River Würm, visitors were once able to see all the way to Nymphenburg Palace. And speaking of fairy tales: The historic building is home to the International Youth Library, the largest of its kind in the world, as well as the Erich Kästner Society.
