Local before arrival
The Deutsches Museum Motel One on the banks of the Isar is a good starting point to reach many of Munich's attractions on foot. With its 66,000 m² of exhibition space, the Deutsches Museum is the world’s largest science and technology museum, and is a great destination for the whole family. The Viktualien market with its sometimes peculiar Bavarian specialties (you can still find a horse butcher shop here) is not far away. Right next door is the Glockenbachviertel, a neighborhood with cool boutiques, small bars and trendy restaurants. The Müller'sche Volksbad is a local insider tip: at its completion in 1901, it was the largest and most expensive swimming pool in the world.
