Paramahansa Yogananda left India for the United States in 1920 to introduce Kriya Yoga to the West. Devoted to teaching the common ground in the principles of Krishna, Jesus, and Yoga, he left behind Lake Shrine, a place for contemplation and spiritual renewal. The park harbors a lake with swans and water lilies, set among lush, green hills. A shining, white temple with Indian and Arabic elements stands high above it all, built posthumously according to Yogananda’s wishes.
