Even knowing this, the sight of almost 8,000 people gathering to enjoy a mug of beer under the open sky can range from unusual to overwhelming. Over the fence a deer bellows and people at the next table are unpacking their picnic lunch—by Bavarian tradition you can bring your own food to a beer garden. Welcome to the royal deer park!
