Whether you are interested in astronomy or had trouble figuring out how Foucault’s pendulum works back in physics class—make time for a visit to the Griffith Observatory. The fanciful building stands enthroned 980 ft. above the city, and offers one of the best vistas of downtown skyscrapers and the endless maze of streets leading all the way to the Santa Monica Bay. Inside the planetarium, the great expanse of the universe will impress you—as will the aforementioned pendulum.
