When pastry chef Fritz Kunder made his famous pineapple torte of marzipan, pineapple, nougat, and dark chocolate in 1903, the ingredients were considered very rare. Four generations later, the café founded by him and his wife Hermine in 1898 is still in family hands. The pineapple tort is still a bestseller alongside chocolate bars, pralines, and chocolate fruit, all made in house with plenty of care.
