As customers line up in front of the bright red façade, the guests inside enjoy American Southern comfort food with a touch of French haute cuisine. With the opening of the restaurant in 2007, owner and head chef Brenda Buenviaje fulfilled her lifelong dream. In 2012, official recognition followed: SF Weekly crowned her fried chicken the best in the city. The beignet (pronounced: ben-yay)—a fried donut typical to New Orleans—is another of the restaurant’s classics.
