With a total area two and a half times larger than Central Park, these former royal hunting grounds are like the lungs of Paris. All types of people can be seen here: young couples following the 17 miles of horse riding trails, families on the little train heading to the Jardin d’Acclimatation childrens’ amusement park, or fishing enthusiasts casting their lines into each of the park’s twelve artificial ponds, not far from the race course designed by engineer Jean-Charles Alphand in 1858.
