Anywhere else and it would just have been yellowed wallpaper, kitschy chandeliers, and faded posters of jazz gods such as Louis Armstrong. At Olaf Dähmlow’s institution in Kreuzberg, however, it is exactly the kind of ambience that brings jazz, blues, and swing to life. If these yellowed walls could talk, they would have many a tale to tell from their 30-plus-year history. As it is, they exude an attitude toward life that goes perfectly with the music. You can enjoy live concerts five times a week as well as home cooking and Kreuzberger brews—served in the beer garden in the summer.
