Zaha Hadid’s only finished building in Vienna to date is a housing project straddling Otto Wagner’s historic viaduct. The project was intended to enhance the value of the area surrounding the Vienna waste incineration plant and provide space for apartments and small businesses but has been criticized as being asymmetrical and skewed. The concept of using a deconstructive architectural style to accommodate the requirements of public housing fell flat. This building is currently being used by international student organizations.
