The Laban building (home to Trinity Laban’s dance faculty), with its characteristically curved façade, was dreamt up by Herzog & de Meuron from Basel, the same minds who worked on Tate Modern. Around 300 dance students study here. The eye-catching shimmer effect of the building’s surface was achieved by creating a shell of polycarbonate panels in green, turquoise and magenta, colours chosen with the help of creative artist Michael Craig-Martin. The building won the renowned Stirling Prize in its opening year, 2003.
