The museum for medieval art in northern Manhattan, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, houses over 5,000 works, mostly from the 12th century, including rare tapestries and stained glass. The castle-like construction and its vaulted passageways were created by disassembling parts of European abbeys and rebuilding them here in their original form. The garden, created in accordance with medieval writings, affords a unique view of the Hudson River.
