Indian restaurants have a long tradition in Germany whereby many dishes have been “Germanized” over time. Often this has to do with the level of spiciness of the regional cuisine—which guests at Masala Empire can still decide for themselves. In terms of the intensity of the spices, however, owner Joel Vilangappara did not want to make any compromises and serves his guests wonderfully authentic curries, each with a very different taste. In addition, chefs from Kerala conjure juicy meat skewers, grilled panir cheese, and freshly baked breads from the in-house Tandoori oven. A tip: Lately they have started offering breakfast, too.
