The Burggarten was designed in the early 19th century as the private garden of Emperor Franz II; today it is a gem in the heart of Vienna’s city center. The palm house features a restaurant by the same name as well as a tropical butterfly house. The terrace in front of the palm house is a lively spot, and on hot summer days you’ll want to find a quiet place to relax on the gently sloping shady meadows next to the Hercules fountain and the monument to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
