Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron’s luxury condo, which was awarded a 2009 Professional Design Award, puts an avant-guard spin on the idea of downtown lofts. Taking into account the cast iron buildings so common in NoHo, 40 Bond has reinvented the traditional look with a combination of poured concrete, a glass façade wrapped in a grid of curved, green glass and a graffiti-inspired cast aluminum gate—New York’s answer to the picket fence.
