The Viennese have a reputation of being a bit morbid. It’s not without reason that Austrian pop star Wolfgang Ambros dedicated a song to the Central Cemetery, a truly successful symbol of inter-religious cohabitation: Jews, Buddhists, and Catholics rest in peace one next to the other, and the tombs of fancy names from the field of music from Beethoven to Falco have become true pilgrimage sites. The cemetery’s church is one of the city’s most important religious Art Nouveau buildings and attracts numerous architecture fans.
