Trastevere may not have the spectacular monuments or richly ornate Baroque churches so common in other areas of Rome and it may not be a shopping destination, but it is one of the most beloved districts for both locals and visitors alike. That comes as no surprise given its picturesque old houses, narrow winding streets crisscrossed overhead with clothes hung out to dry, and its numerous cafés, bars, and restaurants.
