Local before arrival
Squire and Partners managed to create a landmark in the centre of London with their extravagant idea for the fashion label Reiss – and won three design prizes to boot. An acrylic, semi-transparent screen stretches across the glass façade of the building, with wide strips cut out of it giving the impression that the building, which won the 2009 RIBA Award, is draped in silk. This effect is intensified with night-time illumination.
