    Barcelona

Jordi Canudas lives in the historic center of Barcelona. The designer is a member of the OKAY Studio collective and especially enjoys working with light. He sees the creation of his products—lamps, furniture, design objects—as an adventure with an unforeseeable outcome. The 41 year old follows the development of his ideas from the very beginning, a process that can result in a sofa that even superstars like Beyoncé love. In addition, Jordi teaches at the ELISAVA Escola Superior de Disseny in Barcelona and at the Bath Spa University in England.

Jordi thinks that people actively participating in shaping their living spaces and curating the public spaces according to their own expectations and needs is a type of democratic movement. According to him, new technology could support this societal change.

The 1992 Summer Olympics dramatically shaped the development of the city. The harbor was extended, and low-income districts and neglected industrial areas along the water gave way to a modern coastal area, with new apartments and the two-mile-long sandy beach. Star architect Frank O. Gehry also immortalized his lattice fish in gleaming metal.

Jordi loves Barcelona because of its remarkably multifaceted attractions, like the traditional Mercat de Santa Caterina located in the historic center, and, of course, the beautiful weather. The eScooter is the perfect mode of transportation on the hilly, narrow streets of the city: You can enjoy the fresh air and arrive at your destination cool and refreshed.

On the way to the ocean: The ride lasts 15 minutes from Torre Agbar and the Els Encants flea market to the Plaça del Mar. Another impressive tower joins the ranks: The Torre Sant Sebastià is the final stop of Barcelona’s legendary aerial tramway.

The impressive greenhouse in the Parc de la Ciutadella dates back to the year 1888. The construction of steel and glass was created for the World Fair at the time. Jordi loves this idyllic garden, one of the few green oases in the city center. He can catch his breath here, and enjoy the feeling of being in the open air without leaving the city.
