It’s no easy feat to be awarded a fellowship by the Villa Massimo, the German art institute in Rome. With only ten spots up for grabs each year, it represents one of the most important awards for some of Germany’s most talented artists. This past week, art aficionados were able to experience the results of the artists’ work at the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. Ranging from visual art, film, and architecture to literature and music, there was much excitement surrounding the one-night exhibition. Through ingenuity and subtlety, strong-will and sensuality, the artists proved their worthiness of the award.
