Designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in 2006, this museum of ethnology is dedicated to the dialogue between cultures. The 3,500 objects on display showcase the arts and civilizations of Africa, Oceania, Asia, and the Americas. Special exhibitions, dance and music presentations, talks, workshops, and a multimedia library give visitors the opportunity to experience indigenous cultures up close. Designed by Gilles Clément, the garden surrounding the museum adds to the exotic atmosphere.
