Local before arrival
About 15 years ago, the first artists and a few galleries moved into the relics of industrial factory buildings of the northeastern Moganshan Road. Called M50 for short, the artists’ quarter, now organized and cleaned up, has become a center for studios and galleries (ShanghART, Eastlink Gallery, OV Gallery, M97, Other Gallery, Vanguard Gallery, AIKE-DELLARCO). Moganshan Road is also the only place in Shanghai where you’ll find graffiti and street art.
